QCMS Certification Service

Although the ISO 9001:2015 certificate is not a legal requirement in today’s companies, it has become indispensable in terms of market conditions and competitiveness with competitors. in this blog we will talk about the requirements for ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certification in Ontario.

Do companies in the manufacturing or service industry operating in Toronto want to get EN ISO 9001 certification? Let’s talk about what Toronto companies think about the criteria of the ISO 9001 certificate, do the companies in the province of Ontario apply the ISO 9001 requirements.

As QCMS Certification, we sent a 15-question survey form to 10 companies that we provide EN ISO 9001 certification service in Ontario, and asked them to fill out this form and that the EN ISO 9001 certificate; We tried to evaluate the positive or negative developments that happened to companies, company employees and company managers.

Let’s talk about ISO management systems a little before what companies think. ISO is the international standards organization headquartered in Geneva. 157 countries have accepted this standard. Today, more than 20,000 ISO standards have been published in total. Today, companies have standardized the quality of their products/services such as manufacturing, R&D, and design. They can have EN ISO 9001 certificate if they have determined their relevant processes and prepared the infrastructure of a living quality system.

Regardless of capacity and sector, every limited liability, individual, joint stock company organizations can have EN ISO 9001 certificate.

The EN ISO 9001 standard is revised and updated every 7 years on average. The last update was made in 2015, and its definition from EN ISO 9001:2008 was updated to EN ISO 9001:2015. The written year after the standard represents the revised year.

So, what data did we get from the results of our surveys?

The scope of our research consisted of companies in the industrial region in Ontario.

Partial interview method was also applied in this research. We prepared a 15-question form to be evaluated in the interview. The research was initiated by asking questions about the reasons for obtaining EN ISO 9001 certification. At the beginning of these reasons, the information about the tenders or the customer demands that will give work was reached. Unlike these, it was determined that they wanted to reduce the complexity of the production processes, it was easier for other documents to be obtained, and that the competitors had such documents.

When we asked the quality representatives in the companies or the people working on certification, the reason for not getting the certificate or not renewing the existing certificate, they were generally answered that the management did not support it, the system was not operated, and the old popularity of the EN ISO 9001 certificate was no longer available. It was determined that the officials interviewed in an organization that did not have EN ISO 9001 certificate had knowledge about EN ISO 9001. In other words, companies that do not have the certificate generally do not receive the EN ISO 9001 certificate, not because they do not know, but because they do not prefer it.

A company operating in Ankara thinks that the EN ISO 9001 system is beneficial but they think that getting ISO 9001 certification its uncessarry. However, they thought that the process would have an impact in the long run, and they did not consider it appropriate to obtain a certificate, as they think that additional costs may arise in the long run. As a result, at the point of obtaining the certificate, the management sees this issue as an additional cost, while the EN ISO 9001 standard is thought to bring additional workload for the employees.

While the management is trying to add the EN ISO 9001 certificate to the tender dossier, the employee is barely trying to fulfill the requirement of the EN ISO 9001 certificate.
